What is sakura?

Sakura refers to the blossom of the Japanese cherry tree. In Japan, the blossoming season is an important time when people gather to celebrate spring during hanami – the cherry blossom viewing.
Sakura has a slightly floral and subtly salty-sweet flavor. Therefore, it's often used in desserts, mochi, tea, and seasonal snacks.
